Why do Baptists not allow dancing?
Various Christian groups believe that dancing is either inherently sinful or that certain forms of dancing could lead to sinful thoughts or activities, and thus proscribe it either in general or during religious services, particularly in the Anabaptist (chiefly Conservative Anabaptist and Old Order Anabaptist ...
In the Bible, Psalms 149:3 says, “Let them praise his name with dancing…Praise him with tambourine and dance…”3 In 2 Samuel 6:14–22, David dances before the Lord with all his might, providing us with a wonderful example of what it truly means to surrender to God in worship.
Baptists are united by a belief in full-body immersion baptism, baptism of professed believers only (rather than infant baptism), the autonomy of local churches, the Bible as the ultimate religious authority, and the priesthood of all believers.
Baptists do not believe that a loving God condemns anyone for a sin they did not commit. Baptists do not view baptism as a remedy for original sin. Baptists do not baptize infants. Baptists practice baptism by totally immersing persons in water, rather than by sprinkling, pouring, or anointing persons with water.
Churches that align themselves with the Gospel Standard Magazine are known as "Gospel Standard Baptists" or "Gospel Standard Strict Baptists".
Dancing Christians express their Christianity and manifest their joy of living the life of faith. As any scholar of Pentecostalism can testify, Pentecostals are expected to dance, and can sometimes spend hours worshipping the Holy Spirit while mobilizing their body, voice, and emotions.
Let them praise His name with the dance; Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp. Psa 149:2-3 <3.
In the ancient and widespread practice of shamanism, ecstatic dance and rhythmic drumming are used to alter consciousness in spiritual practices. Ecstatic sacred dances are known also from religious traditions around the world.
Dance becomes this ultimate form of therapy providing emotional support through some of the toughest times you may experience. So manifest in this new experience. Manifest in the impact that dance can and will have on you and how it makes you feel, only then will you feel the spiritual benefits it holds.
Baptists believe that faith is a matter between God and the individual (religious freedom). To them it means the advocacy of absolute liberty of conscience. Insistence on immersion believer's baptism as the only mode of baptism. Baptists do not believe that baptism is necessary for salvation.
What makes you a Baptist?
Baptist, member of a group of Protestant Christians who share the basic beliefs of most Protestants but who insist that only believers should be baptized and that it should be done by immersion rather than by the sprinkling or pouring of water.
They have rejected creeds or other statements that might compromise each believer's obligation to interpret Scripture under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and within the community of faith. American Baptists also celebrate the special gifts of all believers, testifying that God can use each of us in ministry.
In 2006, Baptist approaches to drinking alcoholic beverages range from teetotalism (complete abstinence) to temperance (moderation) to alcoholism (addiction). These three patterns also exist in the Bible and in Baptist history. Clearly, the Bible contains evidence of the acceptability of alcohol.
If two Christians divorce they are to remain unmarried or else be reconciled (remarried) to one another. Remarriage to someone other than their former spouse is disallowed. However it must be noted that this is not considered a righteous option.
First, Southern Baptists cannot permit its missionaries to pray in tongues because what the latter claim is the biblical gift is not. The biblical gift of tongues was always “a legitimate language of some people group,” so the policy declares.
Baptists “honor Mary as the mother of Jesus Christ” but consider the “communion of saints as primarily a present reality among Christians,” and don't pray to Mary or “deceased Christians lest such infringe the sole mediatorship of Jesus Christ.”

Dance is also incorporated in Christianity and Judaism. Mentions of dance are present in all of their holy books that date from 2000 years ago, and the followers of these religions continue to preserve dance and incorporate it into daily rituals.

Why do Pentecostals wear skirts and not cut their hair?
It's our protection. It also shows that we are in submission to our husbands, and it is for the glory of God," Zeigler said. In the same vein, Sandi Davis replied: Well, the Bible says that it's a covering.
29 And as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David dancing and making merry; and she despised him in her heart.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. 15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Similar to Psalm 96 and Psalm 98 (Cantate Domino), Psalm 149 calls to praise God in music and dance, because he has chosen his people and helped them to victory. Psalm 149 is also marked by its martial tone: it calls on the people to be ready to fight. Psalm 149. "Sing a new song unto the Lord"
Carimbó Also known as the forbidden dance, from the time that Brazil was a Portuguese colony, Carimbó was a common dance in the northern part of the country. Carimbó was a loose and very sensual dance which involved many spins by the female dancer, who typically wore a rounded skirt.

Worship dance or liturgical dance take on several forms of sacred dance in Christianity and Messianic Judaism, and is usually incorporated into liturgies or worship services.
Like many other sports, dancing releases endorphins–the natural euphoria hormones our body creates during physical activity. Studies also show that dance is linked to the production of oxytocin, another happiness hormone associated with social bonding, and dopamine, a hormone tied to feelings of joy and happiness.
It has been a way of bonding, communicating, celebrating, worshiping, and even healing! We as human beings are very social creatures. Dancing allows us to socialize and be ourselves without any judgement. But, most importantly, it helps heal the soul.
Other studies show that dance helps reduce stress, increases levels of the feel-good hormone serotonin, and helps develop new neural connections, especially in regions involved in executive function, long-term memory, and spatial recognition.
What do Baptists think?
Baptists believe that Jesus Christ chooses to form his church by bringing together believers for the purpose of worship, witness, fellowship and ministry (both spiritual and social). Baptists recognize the church universal as all who truly profess faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour.
Such early Christian practice, however, did not influence some Baptists to embrace a recitation of the Lord's Prayer in worship. Perhaps, another reason for the reluctance to include the Lord's Prayer in worship is because of its guilt by association with traditions more liturgical, especially Roman Catholicism.
The denomination's teachings on sexuality are similarly rooted in traditional beliefs about women and men. Humans were, according to Southern Baptists, created heterosexual, and sexual activity is acceptable only between a man and a woman in a lifelong heterosexual marriage.
He said: All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
In a word, there is only one thing you must do to be saved: you must believe. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. To “believe” means to trust in, to put your faith in, or to count on as being true.
Worship centres on the Bible - reading the Bible, hearing preaching on it or discussing it. Most churches include hymns or worship songs in the service. The Lord's Supper is usually celebrated once a month. Some churches have a special part for children to become involved.
The mission of the Convention is to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ through preaching, teaching, and healing.
: one that baptizes. capitalized : a member or adherent of an evangelical Protestant denomination marked by congregational polity and baptism by immersion of believers only.
While Jesus told Nicodemus, “Amen, Amen, I say to you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born of water and Spirit” (John 3:5), he did not set baptism as a hindrance to salvation but just the opposite. We so often judge things by human standards, but God is not restrained by our standards.
The survey showed the most Baptist state in America is Mississippi, where 60 percent of Protestants are Baptist. Second most-Baptist state is Arkansas, where 56 percent of all Protestants are Baptist. Louisiana comes in third, with 55 percent of the state's Protestants listing themselves as Baptists.
Why do Baptists not fast?
Baptists of England and America in the 18th and 19th centuries occasionally observed fast days and some churches required fasting as part of their church discipline. Baptists have often resisted fasting because of their reading of Jesus' critique of hypocritical fasting (Mt 6:16, though ignoring v. 17).
If you've ever gone to church or church meetings, coffee looms essential. After services, groups of worshippers often gather in church basem*nts to enjoy a cuppa. While most Evangelicals frown upon liquor, Baptists and Methodists and Lex Lutherans can all agree that coffee is a true blessing.
A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to provide for, to protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ.
New Testament. Three passages in the pastoral epistles (1Timothy 3:2, 1Timothy 3:12 and Titus 1:6) state that church leaders should be the "husband of one wife." This has been read by some Christian denominations as a prohibition of polygamy. Others argue that polygamy is allowed, but not for church leaders.
Jesus gives permission for someone to remarry when adultery has taken place. “And I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”9 Here, the phrase “and marries another” raises the issue of remarriage.
We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Speaking in tongues is common among Pentecostals, whose more exuberant brand of Christianity is spreading in the United States and in countries where Southern Baptist missionaries work. There are different understandings of the practice, which is believed to be inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers. So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who do not understand or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
For some reason, many people seem to think that Mormons aren't allowed to dance. While I agree that some Mormons can't dance very well, Mormons certainly can dance! In fact, the Mormon Church frequently sponsors dances for young men and women, ages 14-18.

What do Baptist believe about women's role?
Southern Baptists believe that God created man first, then woman; consequently, this sequence renders women subordinate to men, and undeserving of authority or leadership over them.
Baptism of believers by full immersion
This is perhaps the most obvious difference between Baptists and other denominations. Baptists reject infant baptism, thinking instead that baptism is for believers only - those who can personally declare Jesus as Lord.
Shared doctrines would include beliefs about one God; the virgin birth; miracles; atonement for sins through the death, burial, and bodily resurrection of Jesus; the Trinity; the need for salvation (through belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God, his death and resurrection); grace; the Kingdom of God; last things ( ...

Baptists “honor Mary as the mother of Jesus Christ” but consider the “communion of saints as primarily a present reality among Christians,” and don't pray to Mary or “deceased Christians lest such infringe the sole mediatorship of Jesus Christ.”
An official Southern Baptist resolution adopted at the group's 2006 annual convention proclaimed "our total opposition to the manufacturing, advertising, distributing and consuming of alcoholic beverages" and "we urge that no one be elected to serve as a trustee or member of any entity or committee of the Southern ...
